Bruno Paiardi was born in Brescia on May 6, 1924.
When Fascism collapsed in 1943, and the armistice was signed, he went AWOL and joined the Partisans.
Known as "Faro" to his comrades, he fought the whole 20-month
Resistance war.
Less than a week before Liberation, he fought on Mount Sonclino, where 18 partisans fell, trying to repel a fascist raiding party.
"Faro" is one of the very last witnesses of that bloody battle.
Among the things he had to leave behind when he took to
the mountains was a new passion he had recently developed: rugby.
